Group Sessions & Student Socialization

First, let’s quickly cover the two types of classes we conduct at Sunrise Pine.
The first type is the one on one class, which forms the true backbone of our curriculum. In these sessions, each student works closely with a dedicated teacher to create a personalized learning environment that naturally adapts to their unique pace and style. This highly tailored approach allows us to focus on individual strengths, ensure thorough understanding before moving to new topics, and provide immediate feedback and support.
The second type is our Group Sessions. These classes go far beyond traditional academics by focusing on essential life skills and modern career development. What makes these sessions truly special is their interactive nature, where students actively participate in lively Socratic debates and explore practical skill sets using modern software tools. Most importantly, these classes are highly relevant because we always connect our lessons directly to real world applications.
What Group Sessions Look Like
During these sessions, students explore a variety of actionable skills in a very intimate setting. We keep these groups intentionally small, usually consisting of just two to three students, which ensures everyone has a safe space to speak and participate. To keep the material fun and informative, each topic typically spans one to two weeks and comes alive through engaging hands on activities.
We believe deeply in learning by doing, so students get to use industry standard tools like Figma for design and DaVinci Resolve for video editing. They also participate in our comprehensive Career Week, where they research specific professions and map out the exact steps needed to reach their future goals.
By balancing collaboration with individual creativity, we help our students build genuine confidence and learn how to navigate group dynamics constructively. Through these activities, they learn to manage their time effectively, discover when and how to ask for help, and resolve conflicts in a supportive setting. Ultimately, we are actively preparing our students for the complex, collaborative world that awaits them beyond the virtual classroom.
Socialization at the Forefront
We recognize that education isn’t just about facts and figures – it’s about growing as a person and learning to navigate the world around us. That’s why we place such a strong emphasis on socialization and interpersonal skills.
To help our students become well-rounded individuals, we prioritize forming meaningful relationships. Our online classrooms are designed to be safe spaces where students can share ideas, ask questions, and learn from each other.
The “Why” Behind Every Lesson
We’ve all at some point sat and wondered, “Why am I learning this?” We make sure that never happens at Sunrise Pine. At the beginning of each group session, we take the time to explain:
- Why the topic is relevant to students’ lives
- How the skills learned can be applied in various situations
- The long-term benefits of mastering the subject
This approach not only piques curiosity but also helps students see the value in their education, boosting motivation, engagement and ultimately grows love of learning.
