Why Sunrise Pine exists
In most classrooms, a teacher's attention is divided twenty-five ways. Quick learners wait, struggling learners hide, and most students spend years somewhere in the middle, never quite seen. We started Sunrise Pine because we believe school can work differently: one teacher, one student, full attention, real progress.
What we believe about education
We believe education should be practical, with real life applications a student can see and feel. Facts matter, but in a world where answers are one search away, knowing how to think matters more: how to ask the right questions, judge what's credible, and work through problems that don't have an answer key.
So our teachers do more than deliver lessons. They nurture curiosity, push for genuine understanding instead of memorized answers, and help students build the habits, confidence, and communication skills that carry into every part of life.
And because every student is different, the experience is too. Some students need more time with a topic, others are ready to race ahead, and our model gives each of them exactly that.
A small school, on purpose
Sunrise Pine is deliberately small. Our teachers know every student by name, our staff knows every family, and nothing about a student's progress is ever lost in a system or a spreadsheet.
Small also means involved. Parents get an observer profile on our learning platform, a detailed monthly report, and regular personal contact with us, because educating a child works best as a partnership.
The people doing the teaching
Every Sunrise Pine teacher holds a university degree in their field, and many bring advanced graduate training at the master's and doctoral level. We select them as much for character as for credentials: patience, warmth, and a genuine investment in the students they teach.
Our teachers also keep learning themselves, continually refining how they teach based on what education research shows actually works.

Sunrise Pine School is fully accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Schools and Colleges (ACS WASC), one of the major regional accrediting bodies in the United States.
